I'm sick. Only a bit, but still sick.

I woke up this morning to food leaving me aggressively in multiple directions and have spent the day since then at most semi conscious. When I finally took my temperature 8+ hours later, I have a low, but real, fever.

Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] ahf for bringing me ginger ale and bananas and graham crackers and bread... Sadly, though probably happily for them, as I'm typically a crappy patient, [livejournal.com profile] kimberlogic and [livejournal.com profile] xlii aren't home yet.

If I saw you recently, I sincerely hope I didn't pass the incubating form of this along.

Here's hoping I wake up tomorrow and it's all gone.

My foot

Wow. I totally forgot that my foot 1st started acting up (in this latest, non-gouty way) around 10 months ago.

Oy.

(I just got preliminary bone-scan results from my GP. The podiatrist is on vacation. :/
There's no fracture around the 4th or 5th metatarsal. This IS something on my 3rd. It's not clear what. GP notes that he's NOT a foot specialist and I should talk to Podiatrist, which I intend to do ASAP (maybe tomorrow??). I'll be at squares tonight, but I'm not going to dance until I get more info.)

Family News

It is with deep regret and sadness that we announce that our family will be changing.  We are separating at the end of this summer.  Ted will be moving to a new home in the Boston area.  JB & Kimberly will remain together, living in our current home.

We've shared our lives for 11 years, living together for a decade.  We've had many good times together, but people, who are always changing and growing, sometimes grow apart instead of together.  We still love and care for each other very much.  Although this change is hard and scary, we are still a family and we intend to remain as such, deeply important to one another, very close and invested in each other's lives throughout the coming years.

This is, however, an incredibly painful and difficult time for us.  No one other than the three of us can truly know what this family means to us, why we chose to create and sustain it.  The reasons for this change are deeply private.  While we acknowledge that people may have their own take on this news and their own interpretations of why this is happening, speculation, rumors and taking sides will only serve to hurt us and make the situation more difficult.  While we may not feel ready or able to talk about this with others for some time, we would prefer than any questions be brought directly to us.

We are thankful that our friends have always offered support for our unique family and we hope that will continue to be true.

With deep sadness and hope for the future,

JB & Kimberly & Ted

My body's pissing me off.

So, around 9 weeks ago, my right foot started hurting in a new and different way, along the muscles along the top of foot, along the muscle path for my little and 'ring' toes.
(Looking at The Anatomy Coloring Book, it seems to be where the 4th and 5th toe branches of the Extensor Digitorum Longus are running along the 4th and 5th Metatarsals, around the middle of their length.

It was worst when I transitioned from having weight on it to not, or when I went from no weight to stepping on it. Staying in either of the weight or no-weight positions was pretty much fine. Walking, moving, shifting, dancing, etc, not so much.

I went to the Dr. I had x-rays done to look for stress fractures. Nope. It didn't seem like a gout attack to me, as it had nothing to do with my big toe. Eventually, after taking it easy for a few (4? 5?) days, it went away.

Last week, Wednesday, it returned. Just as painful. This time, it was MOSTLY done with by Sunday or so, but my foot was still sore through Tuesday.

Wednesday, both feet were fine.

On Thursday, my OTHER foot started hurting, in a different place - that bunch of muscle farther up the foot from the 1st location (on the other foot, but you know what I mean...), nearer the ankle - perhaps at the Inferior extensor retinaculum or (less likely) the Superior extensor retinaculum - but still towards the outside of the foot.

Along with this is a bit of (right) big-toe flair-up, but I have no idea if these are actually related.

{sigh} I don't need this.
