Well, it WAS a good weekend...
Jun. 13th, 2004 08:56 pmIt started out as a good weekend...the weather for pride was as good as you could possibly ask. Somewhat warm in the sun, nice and cool in the shade, a good breeze.
I marched with NELA. Our contingent was about 20? people, joined midway by
tcb and
jencallisto, and then about 7/8s of the way through,
dancingdeer lept out of the crowd and joined me for the end of the walking, and then for the Wandering About In The Massive Throngs(tm).
Amusingly, while trying to find the NELA tent to deliver the banner so as to not have to carry it all afternoon, we came across the collective of Boston Area Gay Social Dance Groups, including "Gays For Patsy" (CW line dance, swing and a couple of other forms), the group that does the JP Gender-Free Contra dances and Boston Uncommons, the local gay square dance club, at least 3 of whom regularly dance with Tech... So in the course of the afternoon, Dd and I joined in 2 tips, for our 1st time dancing outside, on grass, on a slope. (Hm. Do I add Eric and ...???... to my list of callers danced to? I doubt it...)
I also got to meet
being_homeless later in the afternoon, having chatted with her the evening before and traded cell numbers. It was a pleasure to meet you, Crystal... Hope to see you around again soon.
Then home to shower, eat and meet up with Dd again to bike out to Arlington Heights for another one of the AMPs - Alternative Music Parties.. I doubt I'll contra to Land Down Under again anytime soon... but it really worked.
I got home around midnightish, showered again and got into bed. Around 2:30 I tried to go to sleep, but around 3, I was woken up by my foot hurting. Yes. Again. And yet again in a different way.
This time it's behind the big joint of the big toe, more into the start of the arch, and the pain, rather than being stabbing on burning, was much more of a throbbing, pulsing horrible thing.
Large doses of Ibu did nothing. By 7am, I'd gotten no sleep. I mailed
kimberlogic and
tcb to ask the 1st of them up to pick up my meds. I'd run out of allopurinol after taking Thursday's dose and hadn't been taking cochicine on a regular basis, as it is theoretically a gout-specific pain reliever, and in the absence of pain, it seemed unnecessary.
What this means is that I have no real idea if this is gout related, or if I sprained/strained/tore something during yesterday's activities. What really gets me about this is that it started in the middle of the night again. I'm very very tired of this sort of shit.
So today, I lay in bed, occasionally pretended to nap with varying levels of success, did not join in any house cleaning, didn't make it the the Dragon-Boat Festival and, when I finally got out of bed to come be a lump downstairs, I spent the next 45m or so writhing in pain. I must say that I'm really looking forward to going upstairs again later tonight, if this is what I can expect. It seems that, after sitting still for a while the pain dies down again. I'm hoping that this'll be better tomorrow, but I can't say that I'm counting on it right now.
At least this didn't hit until after everything on Saturday...
