1st there was the Ramen Problem.

Yesterday I try to order a Gyros at a Greek restaurant. They're _out_ of Gyros meat.
At least they can substitute lamb souvlaki without too much of a change in taste, but still.

Today I go to a convenience store (more or less - LaVerde's in the MIT Student Center) to get a soda. The fountain is down.
So I go upstairs to Subway - both for food and for the soda I didn't get downstairs.

1st they don't have the bread I want - which they almost never do, but then stop advertising it!
Next, after I choose a meat - which they DO have - I discover they're out of _cheese_. A sub shop. Out of CHEESE, Grommit. Amazing.

Finally, I try to get a soda. Their fountain is dead, too.

What am I going to try to eat tomorrow that I'll be denied??

As I don't know if it's actually going to help me (http://supportdb.alsoft.com:591/FMPro?-db=alsoftsupport&-lay=main&-max=15&-format=AlsoftSupport-qa.html&-script=counter&-token=183&-Skip=96&-find ) I'm reluctant to buy it outright.

If it works, I'll pick up a copy after...

{sigh}

(I'm fine, no one else was involved, and (thus, obviously) it's all my own damned fault.)

Turning out of our driveway this morning, I pranged my front drivers'-side quarter panel against the utility pole that stands at the edge of said driveway.

I suspect said quarter-panel is toast. The auxiliary light-cluster is still working, but is held in place by its cables, rather than by its mounting HW.

So, anyone have a good body shop in the Camberville/Charlestown/near-town-side-of-Everett, where good in this case is 'competent, cheap (as this is out-of-pocket), has good connections to junk yards for parts scavenging'. I don't need fabulous quality, but will do with 'reasonable'.

What a fucking Monday.

Remember this problem I had with an ATM last week?

I looked at my balance in that account this morning.
03/16/2006 ATM WITHDRAWAL 03/16 13:09 *529 MAIN ST. 00 CHARLESTOWN MA 009507 BANK OF AME 60 102.00

I'm now waiting for the appropriate person at my bank to call me back.

Grrr.

So there I am, in the main Schrafft's Factory building, at the BoA atm, trying to get money to buy lunch.

The transaction goes smoothly until the door opens to dispense my cash, at which point the system powers off.

A moment or 2 later, the power comes back and the system starts rebooting. OS/2 Warp. Who knew?

During this amazingly slow reboot, I'm on the phone with BoA, getting hung up on 2x and finally finishing a conversation on the 3rd try, wherein they say "talk to your bank and have them contest the transfer if indeed it went through." (At the end of the reboot, the system spits out the receipt for my transaction, which it certainly THINKS went through.)

I call my bank. They say "we don't have any real-time communication between us and remote banks whose ATMs you might be using. This transaction, if it really DID happen, won't post til Saturday. If it does post, come in and dispute it."

So who KNOWS what my balance currently is...

And on top of all this, I have no cash with which to buy lunch.

Always know what machine you're typing at before you type 'drop database {foo}' at a mysql prompt.

(no major harm done, in the long run...)
