JB's Miscellaneous Ramblings

Tonight, I married a chinese couple who wanted to get married before the end of school, when one of them is returning to China. I had a bit more than 24 hours notice.

Their english is, of course, infinitely better than my chinese. That said, it wasn't very good.

A) I need to remember to never have non-english speakers repeat the vows... They should just be asked "Do you..."

B) beyond that, I don't know what would make it more meaningful.

Krissy: I always make sure to talk with people for a bit before-hand to get across the legalities and to sanity-check consent... I just want a better ceremony.

I almost did this one as just a conversation, some questions, and a pronouncement, but something better often seems warranted...

So, the wedding that cancelled a few weeks ago is on for Sunday, 9am. Then I've got one at 11:30. Then a meeting with a couple for a 12/30/06 wedding.

I wasn't expecting this. :)

So, as it stands now, I've got a wedding happening this weekend and one on 12/30.
Wow. This could be a real... business doesn't sound right... hobby's certainly wrong. It's not a vocation. It IS an avocation, but that's wrong too. What's the word I'm looking for?

(And the 12/30 one seems to be a (at least half) transgender couple. I have no idea what the license will say, but it's certainly going to be close to my 1st same-sex marriage.)

At this rate, I'm going to have to start using the dry cleaner who picks up at the office to keep me in shirts and to get my suit cleaned in a timely fashion.

I just received my 1st cold call asking if I could perform a wedding. :)

Sadly, I was unable to help them as I'll be in DC that weekend. :(

So, I am now a fully appointed and sworn Justice Of The Peace for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

I'm thinking of actually putting together a webpage to advertise this fact.

I'm thinking of noting that I'm specifically alternative-lifestyle friendly.

This started me wondering: What alternative lifestyles am I NOT friendly to. For example: Pedophiliac 'relationships' are bad. Age play relationships are fine.

Can anyone else name alternative lifestyles they think I might not be ok with?
