So, during our training, one of the Head Ushers said "I'm going to invite you all to the show on Friday...No I'm not!" and then he explained: "Normally the 1st show in a new town's a dress rehearsal and we can invite the ushers (maybe all the local staff) to see it, but because of the DNC, there's no rehearsal here." (They open tonight, then they're closed 'til Friday...) He then joked about having to get tickets for everyone who heard him say the 1st part.
It seems they're getting people tickets, anyway.
I just got a phone call from one of the folks at the temp company offering me 1 ticket for tonight's show. Woo Hoo.
This really does make it more real... when I wasn't on the list to work the 1st show (as half the new usher staff wasn't, admittedly), it felt a bit like they were going to call later in the week and say "never mind", but they don't just give away tickets to anyone... and even if they DO now call to say never mind, well, at least I'll have gotten to see the show. :)
