Remember when dancingdeer wrote about getting her bike lights stolen outside my house last week?

Now it's my turn, only this time outside Tags in Porter Sq....in broad daylight.

People are scum.

Off to Broadway Bike School tomorrow to A) do some adjustments I've needed to do for a couple of weeks now and B) buy new lights.

Well, yes, but don't you guys use detachable lights?
Noone with any sense in Cambridge leaves decent lights on their bike unless they're completely fixed installations.

Both of mine were bolted on, and were removed anyway. The lights had been bolted onto my bike for 2 1/2 years until last week.

A) One of my stolen lights and BOTH of Joanne's lights were fixed installation. Didn't stop the scum.
B) Daylight. Major outdoor parking lot. Middle of the day. Yes, I was lazy, but really, I shouldn't have had to have worried.

I really wonder how the hell is there such a market for black market bike lights, or bike computers without mounts or the trigger magnet, or front wheels. That said, I intentionally get removable ones and remove them. People suck. And no, you shouldn't have to worry in the middle of a busy parking lot in broad daylight. I "huff" in indignation right along with you.

(I still have detachable lights due to pragmatism about people doing exactly this, especially since I park my bike overnight at the station)
