Generic (drug) coutdown calendar?

Is there anything out there that'll tell me when I can expect to find generics of a given drug on the market?

I'm looking specifically for Drixoral and for Ketoprofin (Orudis KT)

At least some versions of Drixoral have been otc for quite some time now.

i don't know - i don't think it's regulatory, i think it's when something is popular enough that the pharmacies or whatever decide they can make money on their own version.

I know some months ago I had seen something more useful about countdowns to generics for various drugs, but I'm not locating it at the moment. :(

In the meantime there is some information about new and generic drug status available in the "Electronic Orange Book" put out by the FDA - see http://www.fda.gov/cder/ogd/index.htm#Available

It is definitely regulatory. The Orange Book was the right source to suggest; what you're looking for is the later of the patent and exclusivity dates.

On second thought, I'm not sure the online Orange Book is going to be easily searchable for what you need. Would you like a table of drug names with their patent and exclusivity expiration dates? There will likely be several forms of each drug, each with their own patent, so I'm going to make you acutally do the work, but I can give you the data. (shhh. don't tell).
