In and around DC...
Sep. 22nd, 2004 01:31 pmSo, I've now shifted from Ellicott City to Takoma Park.
All in all, this means that there's more (mostly psychological) flexibility to my days. (I say 'mostly psychological' because the cut in commute time isn't that major, but it now really feels like I'm nearer my daily work-destination and better able to do stuff without jeopardizing my schedule for getting to site on time. Watch, now I'll be late sometime...)
So, on single show days (like today and tomorrow) I don't have to be at work until 6:45.
This means I'm available for stuff like lunches or early dinners or such like; though preferably anything happening later in the afternoon will be in the 12-3 quadrant of the beltway/District (ok, if I'm downtown, there's more flexibility).
Speak up, folks.
(On 2 show days (this week; Fri-Sat) I'm due on site at 2:45... still a bit of time, but not as much.)(On Matinee day (Sun), call is 11:45. But then I'm free after about 8.)
Still looking for various dances (Contra, ECD, Ballroom, MWSD) on Sunday and Mondays...
What days I'm off are still being determined on a week-by-week basis.

I live and work downtown, btw...
Oh, and a whole bunch of us will all be at the show on 10/6.

Date: 2004-09-22 12:30 pm (UTC)See www.gottaswing.com for details... next week they have a live band, Rockin' Bones. Rockabilly (Carl Perkins/Gene Vincent, etc) type music. Uptempo stuff.
If you think you will be going, let me know... I like Rockin' Bones a lot, and could easily switch from my normal mid-week dance night [Tues. @ Clarendon Ballroom, same general dance scene, but lots closer to my house :) ] to meet up there for a couple hours.
I have heard much good of this place!

Ellicot City -- yes, it's the Larry & Sue thing. It's fun, though small.
