So, there's this crochet project I'm working on. I'm using Lion Brand Homespun in Montana Sky and Renaissance.

As I was unemployed when I started it, I only bought a few balls of each. I now need more but the bastages have discontinued Renaissance.

Does anyone have any idea where I can find yarn stores with stocks of out-of-production yarn?

(I'll be posting this to [livejournal.com profile] ljgenie, too.)

Thanks!

These folks claim to have it. And this eBay seller.

You might want to try Yarnsale.ca

Also ask at [livejournal.com profile] punk_knitters

The price at yarnsale's good... esp. as it's in CAD... but I don't think I'm up to dealing with international shipping.

Thanks!

The sarcastic part of me says "You know people in Canada that travel to the US frequently - set up the pony express..."

WEBS (http://www.yarn.com/) often have out-of-stock and discontinued yarns in the United States, if I recall correctly. :-)

They seem to have exactly one acrylic yarn.

Thanks, though..

Ooh, now I am insanely missing living in Lowell and being able to go to the Hub Mills store. The jumper I'm wearing in this icon is made from wool I bought there when I lived in Lowell, wow, ten years ago.

Unfortunately, they only carry their own brands of yarn. Thanks, though!

Actually they do carry other brands -- but only higher-end stuff, no Lion Brand.

The good deals are mostly on their own stuff, but not entirely. If one can deal with strange colors, they occasionally have 10-skein packs of nice yarn in their $2/skein bin.

I'm checking with our Rep for the store, sometimes we are able to pull rabbits out of hats on discontinued stuff. Will let you know what they say. How many skeins do you need?

Oops forgot to tell you about Knitters Review. They have a forum to post what you are needing and if people have it they can swap, donate, sell whatever. Its a way to find discontinued yarns.
