I started square dancing a year ago...I went to Tech's fun night and quite honestly had far more fun than I expected.

Tomorrow (Tuesday) night, fun night is back - it's a one night introduction to Modern Western Square Dancing, which you can then learn in detail over the run of the class, which starts 2 weeks later.

Fun night runs 8-10:30 in the Lobdell Dining Hall in the MIT student center. ( http://whereis.mit.edu/ will give you maps, if you need them. )

Give it a try. You might like it.

It's all still accurate. :) (Ok, I started square dancing 3 years ago at this point, but you know what I mean. :)

My parents did square dancing for awhile when I was a kid, and it always looked like fun. But Norman is not at all interested. Maybe once I find a friend who want to learn, too....

For what it's worth, no partner is required at Tech Squares, nor are any special clothes.

yes, I went I think 2 years ago, and I went solo. If you are both newbies, you will be broken up as a couple anyway, and be forced to dance with a more experienced person. And it's Better that way.

This sort of square dancing you rarely actually dance with your "partner" anyhow. You're doing all sorts of turns, do-si-do's, and circles with other people it's sometimes hard to remember who your original partner was!
