Weddings!

So, the wedding that cancelled a few weeks ago is on for Sunday, 9am. Then I've got one at 11:30. Then a meeting with a couple for a 12/30/06 wedding.

I wasn't expecting this. :)

Give yourself enough time to get from one gig to the next. Including time to meet and greet at that next one.
The couples are usually pretty flexible when you tell them ahead of time. Freaked out brides really are a handful.

Yeah. Typically I wouldn't have said yeah but A) both are small small ceremonies, B) The 1st had to cancel once due to an on-call work emergency, so I'm sympathetic, and C) if it takes as long as an hour, I'll still have plenty of time for travel, and I expect it'll be less than that.

When Norman and I were getting married, he got a book out of the Princeton seminary library that was an anthology of marriage ceremonies from many different traditions. Unsurprisingly, we liked the two Unitarian ones best. :-)

So there's at least one book out there that has lots of ceremonies of lots of different kinds.

There are DOZENS of such books. I ordered a few of them, used, via amazon a couple of days ago... but it's nice seeing specific complete services that people have used...

(I don't think the 1st exists without the 2nd, really.)

I wouldn't call it a 2nd job, more of a side-light hobby at this point - 8 weddings in 2 1/2 months isn't exactly a living - but it's been more fun than I ever expected.

I hope to unlame and write more about it eventually.
