Is there anyone out there (Bostonish, of course) who has been thinking that we need more study-hall-like opportunities? I have, and though I can't host, I'd love to partake in such. Let me know if you've got such a thing happening, or have been thinking of such...

Are you craving a quiet place with many people studying, or a place where there are sarcastic remarks and spitballs?

Both, in balance.

what's the difference between a study hall and a library, to your way of thinking?

Tea and (shared) snark. Aka moral support...

In study hall we could play D&D.

I've been meaning to throw a few for my own job hunt, I need social and encouragement. I'm away for the next week, but later in May, I'll ping you about one!

This is what Diesel is for! :-)

(I went to Diesel a few times for study hall when I was job hunting. It worked pretty well, though getting a wall-plug can take a little time.)

Study halls have traditionally been "a handful of people get together who know each other and get some work done, with some socializing, but mostly just sharing space and company"

I like 'em, and I'm totally up for attending.

When we have the common house up and running, I plan on having regular study halls there - though it's likely a ways out for many people.

I'm interested. My classes start back up next month. I usually go to the library, but I'd like company if it wasn't too "talky". I can't really host though, unfortunately.

If I get the Watertown office arranged, maybe it could happen there sometimes.

I do my grading at the MIT student center to be working among other people doing their work. Friends way beat out anonymous MIT undergrads! Count me in.

(So long as I don't have to take attendance or send people to the office like in my weekly E-block study halls :)
