SmarterTravel.com Product Manager

Are you ready to take on one of the Internet's largest, best and oldest editorial sites and make it better? Do you want to work with brilliant people who will challenge your ideas and push you to create the best products you can for customers? Would you like to spend all day thinking about travel? Due to an internal promotion, we are looking for a new product manager for our flagship product, SmarterTravel.com.
We're looking for someone with the energy, creativity and passion to work with people throughout the company to make SmarterTravel.com even better in the years to come. You'll work with some amazing people to tackle issues including product positioning, strategies to make our customers happy, and how to execute with precision while experiencing rapid growth.

Major Responsibilities:

* Serve as the evangelist for the product. You will work with all departments including sales, marketing and technology to develop product positioning, coordinate planning and oversee the successful execution of product plans.

* Coordinate non-content planning for SmarterTravel.com, including project plans, resource allocation, budgeting and goal setting. Own key projects, with assistance from the project management area, that affect SmarterTravel.com.

* Coordinate product meetings, including setting the agenda and preparing for discussions to facilitate educated and lively debate.

* Identify, track and flag key metrics in the product, working with the analytics team to identify trends and opportunities. Work with finance to develop profit metrics for each major section of the product.

* Serve as the central coordinator for resource and staffing requests for SmarterTravel and combine those requests with product goals to set priorities.

* Act as the primary liaison between the editorial and business staffs, keeping all staff up-to-date while preserving necessary barriers to ensure editorial independence and objectivity.

* Manage the company's syndication business, including working with business development to identify new opportunities.

* Manage day-to-day relationships of co-brands and content partners.

* Research industry trends in editorial publishing and content delivery.

* Work with the sales and business development teams to represent the product at certain key external events.

* Lead new product development and product enhancements. Collect data for new initiatives and detail findings in project definition documents.

* Oversee usability of sites, newsletters, user interfaces: Constantly analyze and improve UI for all aspects of the product with the ultimate goal of increasing user satisfaction and loyalty.

* Conduct product testing: Evaluate the performance of SmarterTravel and test ways of improving key product metrics.

Requirements:

* At least seven years of product management or similar experience, including at least two years overseeing either a consumer Internet or travel product.

* Experience developing Internet products and technologies.

* Demonstrated experience in gathering design requirements into a product vision.

* Demonstrated ability to work with a team to rapidly produce prototypes and iterations, along with a desire to be in a position that requires a high level of coordination among multiple stakeholders.

* Excellent written and oral communication skills, and an enjoyment of networking.

* Quantitative analytical abilities. Would rather use Excel than Word.

* Capability in analyzing/leveraging data from a range of consumer research sources. Able to persuasively present findings

* Demonstrated experience or ability to conduct, manage and synthesize market research

* Strong organizational skills and time management/prioritization skills

* Excellent technical skills. Great reputation within engineering teams

* Ability to effectively translate data into actionable insights that demonstrably build sales and profits

* Prior experience in the online travel industry is preferred


Traffic Coordinator

Job Description:

The Traffic Coordinator will play an integral role in the Smarter Living sales and business development department. The Traffic Coordinator will work directly with the sales and business development team, as well as advertisers and agencies, in order to maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize advertising campaigns.

Job Qualifications:

We are looking for a smart, responsible, motivated and out-going self-starter with superb attention to detail and organizational skills.
College degree is required. Familiarity with the Internet, HTML, Excel, and online travel is preferred.

Primary duties include:

* Trafficking ads
* Implementing ads in 3rd party ad server and internal system
* Monitoring and optimizing campaigns
* Working with advertisers regarding creative issues
* Editing and selecting ads for 'sponsored deals'
* Analyzing and reporting on performance and revenue trends
* Tracking revenue numbers
* Estimating and reporting on future available site impressions
* Assisting in the creation of ads for 4-5 newsletters per week
* Preparing/sending weekly and monthly reports to advertisers
* Preparing/sending month-end reports and invoices for Smarter Travel.com advertisers.
* Participate in weekly sales/business development meetings


Director of Industry & Client Communications

Job Overview

As Smarter Living continues to be one of the fast growing travel companies, we have a growing need to make sure the industry media, potential advertisers and partners know who we are and what we are doing. This position is about taking the goal of building awareness, interest, and creating demand in the travel and on-line industries and running with it. It involves many different forms of communications, including tradeshows, public relations, collateral development, speaking engagements and general buzz. If working with a team of great advertising sales, marketing, and product people to come up with a strategy to accomplish these goals, and getting your hands dirty while working with vendors to actually execute against this sounds like fun, then this is the job for you. The Director of Industry and Client Communications will report directly to the Senior VP of Advertising and Partnerships.

Responsibilities

Industry Marketing

* Plan, coordinate, and supervise Smarter Living's presence at tradeshows, conferences, seminars and other special events. Working with agencies and vendors to organize the space, design, and build out. Working with sales, marketing and other areas of the organization to fulfill their needs

* Generate market buzz to Internet analysts and analyst communities (i.e. Forrester, Hitwise, PhoCusWright)

* Produce industry white papers

* Own and maintain all budgets for industry marketing

* Provide communications support to the CEO and other senior management

* Secure speaking engagements

* Provide speech writing and presentation assistance

Sales Support

* Produce media kits

* Produce tchotchkes as necessary for events and sales activities

* Provide any other online and printed materials as requested by sales team

Public Relations

* Manage all aspects of industry media relations for Smarter Living

* Drive proactive, positive media coverage

* Create, implement and execute B2B, "Best of class" PR programs with external P.R. agencies as necessary

* Work and collaborate with Consumer Marketing and P.R. to ensure brand compliance across the company, within the media, and other areas where Smarter Living's brands appear



* Track media mentions and provide analysis and measurement on effectiveness of PR campaigns

* Develop and maintain relationships with analysts and key press to increase quality and quantity of media coverage of Smarter Living's brands and products

* Track competitive issues and provide management analysis of these issues within the media

* Own PR P & L

Corporate Communications

* Provide messaging and execution plan for corporate site and overall corporate communications requirements

Job Qualifications/Requirements

* Four-year degree

* 5+ years of sales and marketing experience

* Including 3+ years of public relations and/or corporate communications experience

* Ability to "start up" a strategic communications function

* Dynamic personality with an ability to network and own the room

* Experience executing public relations plans and managing P&L

* Strong verbal and written skills

* Ability to write and pitch press releases

* "Crisis management" experience

* Experience working with national press and analysts

* Experience with trade marketing

* Experience setting up and managing tradeshow and special event activities

* Ability to travel 15% of the time

* Ability to work independently

* Project management skills

* Ability to meet deadlines without sacrificing quality

Senior Credit & Collections Representative

Job Description:

Overall responsibilities include managing the order approval and credit and collection skills along with ability to follow up on unresolved issues

* working knowledge of financial statements and collections operations, monitoring all customer accounts, advising staff on order approval terms and collection efforts, and promoting and implementing corporate credit policies.

Specific functions:

* Process credit applications and request additional information when required

* Check credit references (credit reporting services and specific references provided) according to level of credit desired

* Establish and periodically review credit limits for each customer

* Review and approve new customer campaign on the basis of existing credit limit, open balance level and payment history; maintain pro-active communication with sales and traffic to coordinate approval or re-scheduling of campaigns, as needed

* Review aged A/R report and contact delinquent accounts to request payment

* Oversee cash receipts and cash application

* Prepare recommendation for raising/lowering credit limits based on payment record

* Participate in monthly closes, year-end close and yearly audit

Experience/Qualifications:

* at least 3 years of experience in commercial credit and collections, including setting credit limits and evaluating credit risk on new customers/orders

* computer and accounting system experience

* strong customer service communications, negotiation, and collection skills along with ability to follow up on unresolved issues

* working knowledge of financial statements
