I just told dreamwidth to import everything from my LJ, including comments.

It claims to have finished.
There are no comments.

Is this just a queueing issue - the job is running in the background and the status page only knows that it's been submitted/accepted?

That's quite interesting to know that's a possibility. Thanks.

Indeed, especially as I'm also in progress on an import :( (There may be a volume/bandwidth issue, since it seems an unusually high number of LJ users are crossing the DW bridge and taking their archives with them today.)

Yeah, my entry import's been waiting in the queue for half an hour or so. It's going to take a while, I'm afraid.

I did just realize that on the primary Import Options list, there are two options, one to Import Entries, the other to Import Comments; I'm wondering now if there's a bug on the importer that if both are checked, the Importer ONLY handles entries but skips the comments, even if the second option is also checked. The second Import option ALSO includes importing the entries themselves, so I'm guessing there's a handling error in there somewhere. After the first import brought everything over, I'm currently running a subsidiary Import on JUST the Import Comments option to see what happens. ΒΈ

Comments issue aside and a propos of nothing, I'm *really* impressed with just how *quickly* the Importer brought over a decade`s worth of very verbose content. Far less than half an hour for mine, start to finish.

I was hoping I could see friends LJ blogs through Dreamwidth. Is that even possible?

If you mean, can you use DW as an aggregate reader?, then you should be able to add feeds in much the same way as you add them to the LJ feed: http://www.dreamwidth.org/support/faqbrowse?faqid=27

(There may be limits based on the original blog's security levels, which is how LJ does it now, in that RSS, for example, won't pick up anything except public posts, even if you have the original account friended and get included in FLocked postings.)

So, three rounds of Import (1 solely to bring over the rest of my user icons once I upped the account level), and I still don't have comments either. Have you figured anything out about that? [Edit: I've submitted a support request to DW; we'll see what they say.)

Nope. I was in the middle of opening a support request when I found out that our roof had a disagreement with a tree and I had to help Kimberly with that. Submitting now...

Were you able to import photos also?

I've never like LJ's photo handling and have not used it for much of anything in YEARS. I'll try to back the few things I have later.

My photos seem to have shown up; my comments haven't.
