Things that suck.
Aug. 17th, 2002 12:31 pmA) AC Repair places that make service appointments 20 days in advance and then /FORGET/ - or claim to - that they ever did such things.
They say they'll be here NEXT Saturday. Bastards.
B) Having to split your stuff when packing, half for storage, half to move in with you for the next year. It more than doubles the packing time.
C) Having to do so when it's 94+degrees out and you have AC ONLY in the Living Room, thanks to A.

Blech.
Date: 2002-08-17 02:42 pm (UTC)I've been feeling *very* grateful for our central air conditioning lately! Did I ever tell you that last summer, we actually suffered an air conditioning failure -- but luckily, due to the age of the house, when air conditioning was installed 7 years ago, two completely independent systems were installed. One coming in through the attic for the upstairs, and one coming up through the floor for the downstairs. So even when a capacitor blew in one of the cooling units outdoors, the house remained completely comfortable on the first floor and only mildly warm on the second floor.
We blessed the foresight of the previous owner of the house, even though redundancy wasn't the reason she had it done that way. And we were very amused when we called the people who installed the air conditioning to get them to come out and fix it -- they sounded really apologetic about the fact that they couldn't come out and fix it *that day*, and would tomorrow afternoon be OK? Uh, yeah, sure...
