Needed in Boston: Dell Laptop and/or Dock

So one of our laptops - a Dell Inspiron 3500 - has decided that it doesn't want to boot anymore - no POST, no screen display at all, no nothing, except that the power light and the disk light will come on and stay on, and the fan will spin up and then spin down. That's it.

We have data on that machine we need off soon.

We have another one of these machines around to try, except it has a broken power switch.

SO: we need to borrow, asap, either or both of: A Dell Inspiron 3500 (or a machine that will take a hard drive out of one - I don't know if Dell went totally connector-conspiricy or not) and/or a full dock (must have a power switch on the dock - the "Port Replicator III" doesn't have a power switch).

Please let me know if you have one of these things around here (Boston). (Or if you have any idea what the heque's going on....)

Dells use standard 2.5" IDE hard drives. You can get an interface for under $10, but I don't know if you can get any locally. I got mine from, I think, compugeeks.com ... but I'm too chemically altered to check right now.

Yeah, but I'm hoping to not have to pop it out of the really-annoying-to-open case it's in.

I've got the laptop to normal IDE/power adaptor at my place, which is somewhat closer.

I have a dell latitude, does that help? (i carry the laptop around, the docking station lives at work in bedford)
