Not quite "record," but v. close, especially in concept: "Video," by Patty Larkin. It may be a hidden track. I don't remember whether it's on Angels Running or Perishable Fruit, but definitely one of the two.

"Another Record" - Genesis (phil collins era.. last song, side 2 of Abacab)
(the chorus is "put another record on.. cuz he likes that song..")

"Northern Song" - Beatles

and not sure if this counts.. but it certainly is scary..

Oh wow, "Life Is A Rock (But The Radio Rolled Me)" brings back so many memories! I've always loved that song, and it really hurt my brain to hear it changed into a commercial for a shopping mall several years ago (they listed all the stores in the mall).

Does "Tape Decks All Over Hell" (Boiled In Lead) count? And of course there's "Backwards Message" (Steven Brust). You might want to count "The Money Go Round" (The Kinks), which is about the money from a song...

Big Ten Inch (record, that is) [Bullmoose Jackson, covered by Aerosmith]
Don't Leave Your Records In The Sun [John Hartford]
Not quite about records:
Don't Put Another Dime In The Jukebox [The Flirts]
Sad Songs (Say So Much) [Elton John]
Possible reference:
Apparently an episode of the Doctor Demento show (May 21, 1989) had as its theme songs about vinyl records.

Marc says: "Smoke on the Water". Does a song about the circumstances surrounding the recording of a song count?
