So, by a chain of events, I've got a 40GB laptop drive to replace the _4_GB drive currently in this machine.

However, while I want to do a fresh OS install, I'm also going to want to get much that's on the 4GB drive on to the new one... This combination will require a way to hook up both drives at the same time, one externally.

Does anyone have a USB or Firewire (prefereably FW, as this box is USB1), chassis for a laptop drive that I can borrow for a week or so?

Thanks very much.

(Very low cost bribes are offered... But hey, aren't the best things in life free? :)

Thanks in advance...

I know where you can use such an enclosure. Email me.

Alternatively, find someone with a DVD burner and do it that way.

(Just in case the drive swap doesn't pan out.)
(I have a drive enclosure, but, well, distance.)

I have a USB 1.0 laptop drive enclosure. Slow, but usable.

So, can we talk? (The pismo's only got USB1(.1?) anyway.)

I gather the new hard drive and old hard drive won't both fit into the current machine at the same time? If you can't find a case (although it sounds like you have one alreay lined up) I do have a large Firewire drive you can borrow to switch the data onto, then you can swap hard drives and copy it back. A little extreme, but it would do the trick if you were stuck.
