So, as you may or may not have noticed, I started doing Modern Western Square Dancing 2.5 years ago. (It looks like this is the 1st I wrote about it.)

So, the Fall class starts... tonight, in about 5.5 hours.

Y'all should still try it.

1st hit's free!

(8-10:30, Lobdell dining room, 2nd floor, MIT Student Center. (That's W20, right?))

(You mean "Program", don't you? ;)

Taking? Nothing right now, though C1 if I can find one I like sometime.

Tech Squares is a Plus club. The Crash Course goes from 0-Plus in 13? weeks.

The class and the weekly club night are interleaved on the same evening during the school year. During winter and summer vacations, it's all plus, all the time.

That was fun! My brain is full, and I didn't even stay for the whole evening.

So, first dose was free... I should look at the website and decide whether I want to pay each week, or maybe if I write a check for the whole thing at once I'll be more likely to show up every class.

It was great to see you there.

A couple of notes, though:

It really is a class. Studying isn't /mandatory/, but it's really a pretty good idea. Not staying for the whole evening is a /bad/ idea. Even if - as wasn't the case last night - there're no new calls in the last tip, being there to help what you learned worm its way in to your head is a good thing.

The review sessions are also good (7:45-8:15).

Getting a subscription really is easier on everyone.

Keep coming back! It's fun. :)

The definitions sheet lists Bend the Line, Partner Trade, and Couples Trade, all of which make sense to me from the description but I don't think I've done them. It also lists Grand Square and Wheel and Deal, which I can't follow from the description.

I do plan on being there at 7:30 next Tues for the makeup session... and probably will try for 7:30 every week because I know I'll need the practice.

Believe me, if I didn't have a wedding to organize, I would have stayed last night. As it is, we were up til 1:30... but after this weekend my schedule will be much more conducive to dancing. yay!

is a handy-dandy site full of animated gifs of square-dance calls. :)

Glad you'll be there on time and again and again, and all that. :)

Subscription is definitely the way to go. Cheaper, and less hassle for both you and the person collecting the money.

Leaving as early as you did on a regular basis would probably result in you falling behind, but you had a good excuse this week. I assume that you're only planning to get married once during the spring class...

See you at 7:30 next week!
