So, SmarterLiving's doing a corporate offsite.

It'll be in Las Vegas in early January.

I'm not sure what the evenings are going to look like, but I'm getting to at LEAST one Cirque show. I'd love to get to all of them, but that seems unlikely.

DrBitch, Frotz: Where were your posts about LV Food?

What else should I be trying to cram in around the work meetings? (They're covering 2 nights, certain, maybe 3.)

Which show are you going to? I've seen the floor shows, I would recommend:

La Noubia (if you're in Orlando, spectacular)
Ka (Best show in Vegas; go for center stage, about 15 rows or so back.)
Mysterie (classic)
O (ok, but not my cup of tea)

Didn't see the Zumanity one though.

I recommend blackjack at places like O'Shea's. Far more friendly than the larger casinos, I meet all sorts of people at the tables.

Here's an essay I wrote about Vegas (I lived there for a year and a half). Get to the Liberace museum, you must you must you must.

Hey, you should come out and visit me. :)

(Did you ever live at Hollowpoint?)

oooh, not sure my head could stand Vegas (stupid five month migraine) but I sure would like to see you. Maybe if I'm better then.

(I lived at Hollowpoint the whole time there was a Hollowpoint. Why?)

why did you want to know if I lived at Hollowpoint?

I'm re-reading parts of Science Fiction Culture, as I may be going to talk to an acquaintance's (Sociology?) class about my parts of it, and I saw the interviews with Amelia and Forrest @Hollowpoint, and a "Sarah" was mentioned, and I was wondering.

Sounds like fun, but hopefully it won't be during Arisia.

Death Valley and the Valley of Fire are both impressive if you go for nature-type stuff. Lotus of Siam and Luv-It are both impressive if you go for food-type stuff.

definitely go to the valley of fire if you can. it's beautiful.

i didn't see ka (it didn't exist when i was there) but i've heard it's amazing. i would recommend mystere, zumanity, and then O (i have heard we saw O on an atypical performance, because we were both COMPLETELY underwhelmed. zumanity was pretty, but less technically impressive than a lot of their other shows. but, you know, pretty mostly naked people make up for a lot. mystere was really wonderful though -- i liked it best.)

the food we had was sadly forgettable.

O and mysterie were great. I think that mysterie was better, but then it had taiko in it! The stage rigging for O was AMAZING, the show was good.

See the inside of the Luxor, it's really an impressive building. See the outside of NY/NY, see the fountains at the bellagio at night. Be prepared for LOTS of smoke. Look up. The ceilings are amazing!

Be prepared for LOTS of smoke.

Yeah, that's what I'm least looking forward to.

For food, there is a mini-Zagat that comes free at many hotels.
