Probably about...40? or more of them over the years.

I've been a member of The International Wizard of Oz Club.

I've been sadly disappointed by the fact that Martin Gardner's Oz book, Visitors From Oz, is total crap.

I'm very psyched about the new edition of _Baum's_ Visitors From Oz, that I just discovered while looking for the above link.

I'm looking for copies of Oz-Story 1, 4 and 5, if anyone happens to have them.

I lust for some of the John R. Neill originals I've seen in Books Of Wonder, one of my favorite bookstores.

I really liked Wicked (the book), hope to see Wicked (the musical) soon, and am currently reading Son Of A Witch.

It's just the "Junior Editions" I've never heard of.

I'm actually pretty ... disturbed? bothered? disquieted? ... by how many people think that I've never read the Oz books.

It's just weird!

I read about the first dozen or so Oz books when I was very young. I remember enjoying them very much, but don't really remember that much about them. I made sure that Dylan has read The Wizard of Oz and made sure that he was aware that there are other Oz books out there. So far he hasn't read any of them, but he's not much of a fiction reader - he'd rather curl up with Fundamentals of Chemistry or Physics Made Easy. But I've at least made him aware of the existence of the books, which is more than a lot of people I know.

I was only skimming my LJ Friends between Thanksgiving festivities so I did not look closely, but I had guessed at a glance that you found a rare, small print run edition or possibly a volume that you did not know about before. I knew that you had read the bulk of the Oz books.

One of the reasons you are so adored is that you have overwhelming and contagious passions. You love with your whole being and when you do, people near you get pulled along for the admiration ride. Case in point much of the modern folk music in my life is because you had a passion and I wanted to know what the fuss was about. Namaste.

Do not be too concerned that not everyone got the memo on all of your literary predilections. Being misunderstood is part of the human condition.

I noticed that "Junior Edition" on there and wondered about it, but everyone else seemed so sure you meant the book itself... :)

I've been slow to get in to it and reasonably easily distracted, but I think that's more me than it.

-Oh thank god. I thought it was just me.

As Ugol's law says, no it isn't.

But yeah, finsing you KNOW people who agree with you is always good. :)

It was SUCH a disappointment.

Apologies for the assumption! My mistake.

If you're disturbed by people who think you haven't read Oz, you'd probably be even more disturbed by the number of people I've met who had NO CLUE that Oz existed beyond the first book. Really. So far, those people greatly outnumber the people I know who HAVE read more than a few.

That said, here is some info on the "Junior Editions" books.

All is forgiven. :)

Thanks for the link! That's exactly why I posted that, so I'd have a reminder of what wanted to look up... and it's a bonus when someone goes and does that FOR you. ;)

*HUG*

I thought you meant the junior edition, not the regular Oz books. That said, while I know there are more than one Oz books (thank you, RAH), I've only ever read the first one. I read that in high school, as part of an assignment. I remember wondering at the time why MGM changed the colour of the slippers.

I absolutely *loathed* Wicked the book. Couldn't even finish it. I didn't find one single character even remotely sympathetic.

Hopefully the musical is better.
