Food Porn!
Jan. 12th, 2006 07:11 pmSo, I was in Las Vegas for the past week.
Between Saturday and Wednesday, I ate at Thomas Keller's Bouchon Las Vegas 4 times. 2 dinners, 2 breakfasts.
Dinner 1:
Salade de Langue de Boeuf - warm beef tongue salad with pickled vegetables (carrot, onion, radish) & french green lentils
Roasted Sweetbreads with potato, butternut squash and apple 'mille feuille' and an pan sauce and apricot reduction
Porc Braise - braised pork short ribs with onion soubise
(with which our waiter demanded I order
Puree de Pomme de Terre
)
6 various cheeses, including Mimolette, Morbier, Crottin de Champcol, served with an apple and honeycomb.
Tastes of:
Pate de Campagne - country style pate with watercress, cornichons & radishes
Confit de Canard - sauteed duck confit with citrus riz rouge & sorrel
Gigot d'Agneau - roasted leg of lamb with flageolet beans in a thyme jus
Epinard - sauteed spinach (with a lot of garlic)
Unfortunately, we were much too full for dessert.
Dinner 2 - which followed a buffet at The Steakhouse at Circus Circus not that many hours prior, unfortunately:
Salade Gourmande - seared scallops, duck liver (and other offal) confit, braised chard and haricot vert
Soupe a l'Oignon
Croque Madame - toasted ham & cheese sandwich on brioche with a fried egg & mornay sauce, served with french fries
Bouchons - 3 Valrhona brownies with Valrhona sauce and vanilla ice-cream
(with which my mouth demanded I order a glass of milk)
and tastes of:
Rillettes aud deux Saumons - fresh & smoked salmon rillettes with toasted croutons
Pomme Frites
'Tropical' and strawberry sorbet
Breakfast 1:
Bouchon French Toast - Bread pudding style with warm layers of brioche, custard & apples. Served with maple syrup
Cinnamon Oatmeal with golden raisins.
Breakfast 2:
Bouchon French Toast, again.
Sausage
Croissant
Hot Chocolate (Valrhona, again)
In other meals, there was:
Dinner at Lotus Of Siam,
lunch at "Cravings - The Ultimate Buffet Dining Experience" at The Mirage,
dinner at The Buffet at The Wynn,
breakfast at Grand Lux Cafe and a small dinner at Noodle Asia - both at The Venetian,
and sandwiches at 'Wich-craft at the MGM-Grand and at Fatburger on The Strip.
None of it was bad.
Dinner 1 at Bouchon was in my top 5 meals ever, though.

Bouchon is one of those things.
Hell, you're in Cali now. Go to The French Laundry or the CA Bouchon and tell me I'm wrong.
