Anyone have a slide scanner I could borrow for a while? Prefereably one that works with Linux or OS X?

Thanks!

We've got one here, but I don't know anything about it, try emailing jbvb.

If you come up with some useful clue about slide scanners, I wouldn't mind a pointer or two - my mother has been talking about scanning my family's slides.

If you can convince Kurt to locate my slide scanner, you're welcome to borrow it. I loaned it to him years ago and haven't seen it since.

Which Kurt?

I have one, but it's rather unwieldy to loan though (as it is a flatbed UMAX Powerlook 2100XL with a 13x18 inch bed ...) What quantity of slides do you have to scan?

Matt and I have a scanner that has a slide scan attachment which we are actually looking to get rid of because it only works with Matt's PC computer which we are working on getting rid of as well. Far as I know, the scanner works under linux. Go leave a note for Matt at [livejournal.com profile] halleyscomet at gmail dot com and ask him for more details. If it works with your machinery and you want to keep it, we would probably both be happy to see it go to a useful home rather than going into the recycling program.

Wish you had said something while you were over. It was sitting in a box up in the office, and works on a Mac. Ping me if you still need it, and I'll drop it off at wd'd later this week.

Buy one that works from MicroCentre or similar. If, at the end of your scanning session, you deem the scanner isn't up to snuff, you can return it.

I have [livejournal.com profile] dr_memory's old Qscan, which works fine under
OS X with Vuescan and a SCSI card or a firewire-to-SCSI adaptor.
He occasionally makes noises about sending me the the manual to it,
even. It's an older unit, very sharp, but with imperfect colour
fidelity. Small, though.

I know [livejournal.com profile] jiapa just went and bought one, but probably
won't be through with all her slides and negs for a couple of years.
