Why can't igloo design a water jug that doesn't need a drip pan??

So. how do you stop some idiot from pressing the button when his cup isn't perfectly aligned?

That's not the problem. The problem is that there's always water left in the spout after the valve is released, and it dribbles out later, on to the floor.

I think it just needs a very small secondary vent hole, except that perhaps if it's too small it'll be prevented from being effective due to surface tension.

A ball valve at the end of the spigot would probably fix this.

A large part of the dribble happens soon enough that you can wait and catch it. Most people don't, though, and even if they did, I don't think it's all of the dribble.
