Must have been shot out of a device....

A plot device.

It was a Deus ex machina. Or a machina ex machina. Or something.

[and BTW, that's some seriously rockin hair in that icon.]

I seem to recall that you get a brief image of one of the other ships sporting that out of what looks like an engine nacelle or somesuch. I'd have to watch again to be sure.

I thought it was part of the ship that was following them in.

Either that, or he really missed his days with Buffy.

Wherever it came from, it sure had remarkably good aim to land just precisely in the middle of his chest like that. Sigh.

The window may have helped improve its aim.

The Reaver ship that was landing behind; Serenity spun around on landing such that the nose was pointed at the door they skidded through.

But if there was another ship in there with them, how did they have so much time to set up their defense position? Or any time at all to gather equipment outside the ship?

That's what I'd thought originally, but watching tonight didn't sell me on that...

If the Serenity landed backwards after skidding to a stop, perhaps the Reaver ship skidded and slid into the Serenity.

I thought it was an actual super-spear-gun thing at first. Then I thought it was a huge piece of debris kicked up by their "landing." Don't really know.

The Reavers fire spikes like that from their ships as harpoons.

I figure that once they stopped - the reaver ship following them did a controlled landing (much less fast) and started firing mess at them - it was a very long corridor.

It's obvious. They landed in a plothole.

You dare question the Whedonverse?!!?

A dozen fans with clubs will be by shortly.

(Love the series; Serenity...well, it kinda sucked.)
