Never, no matter how little time you think you're going to have, in anyplace without a book, magazine, or SOMETHING to read. D'oh.

well being a geek type, I make sure to have a little game like tetris, bejeweled, or some trivia thing on my cellphone that doesn't actually use up airtime, but is good to distract oneself from the potential excruciating boredom of long T rides, waiting at the DMV, doctor's office, etc.

Reading material is good too, but since I'm always carrying my phone with me, the little game is useful too.

A small package of origami paper, sudoku and knitting get me through the waiting room at the kung fu gym while the kiddos have their lesson. It saves me from having to read the kung fu magazines.

Yes. yes yes yes yes yes. Just, yes.

I think if I were to draw up a list of my deepest, most inherent beliefs, this would probably be on the list.

I just went up the street to a restaurant sans book (a rare event). I couldn't use the toilet during a whole meal.
