When you're listening to music, and you're listening to something you can't identify, and half the time you're saying "Zappa!" and the rest of the time you're saying "The Residents!", you should NOT be surprised when it turns out to be Captain Beefheart.

The later track where you're not sure if it's from Sesame Street? It could also be Zappa/Mothers. :)

My first serious crush/father-in-art was a big Zappa fan, but I have given up expecting anybody else to know what the Mothers sounded like. And Captain Beefheart!!!!! How obscure is that? I regret horribly having sold my copy of "Clear Spot" for gas money in the early '80s.

Various bits of the Beefheart Oeuvre are out on CD... and I think the vast majority of everything Zappa ever did is still available, too.

If you're listening to something you can't identify, and your head says "Warren Zevon" but it also says "REM" ... you're listening to the Hindu Love Gods (REM - Stipe + Zevon).
