Kimberly has asked me to make sure her version of the invite gets wider distribution, so here it goes :) (with a few minor corrections) :
Bring your sense of whimsy & plenty of hugs to help us celebrate JB's 40th birthday on Saturday, October 27th at the Silber-Lefton house between 2p.-the wee hours. Note location is Melrose, not GLSE. We hope that the timeframe allows folks to attend in a way that accomodates other social events & family schedules. Come early, come late, come & go - whatever works for you.
Costumes are encouraged but not required. Small prizes will be awarded for most creative, funniest &
Gorey-esque attire (aim for the neat mix of Victorian-Goth featured in much of Edward Gorey's art & work).
JB will also have a big bowl of treats for anyone who wants to trick-or-treat but those not in costume may have to tell him a joke or perform a magic trick for their treat! We will also entertain suggestions for new nicknames for JB, though he reserves veto rights.
I'll be providing some soup, bread, cheese, other assorted munchables, spiced cider, etc. There will be birthday cake, likely served around 8:30p. {Mostly, though, this is a potluck. Feel free to bring something, but also remember to take it with you.}
Kids are welcome. No smoking. Please be respectful of the space, stuff, people & pets of the house. The Silber-Leftons are graciously loaning us their home for this party - if you have questions for a host, please see Kimberly or Sam.

Date: 2007-10-28 01:05 am (UTC)I cleaned up from this adventure, grabbed my stuff from the car, shut the car door, and turned to go towards my house. I then promptly dropped a six pack of Flying Dog Old Scratch Amber on the sidewalk, where it became a heap of beer-spraying broken glass.
I figured that the world was suddenly out to get me, even before I noticed that *both* of my shoes chose *while I was going up the stairs with the remaining six pack of beer* to come untied (fortunately no further calamity ensued). That being the case, I realized that if I set out for your place I would undoubtedly drive one of my three remaining tires over a shard of Flying Dog beer bottle.
Here's hoping that I've gotten the bad luck out of the way for both of us and that things will be looking up from here on.
