Are any of your other menus having this problem? Are you running OS9 underneath? That does all sorts of wonky things to my display. Can you select the items? What happens when they're highlighted? Very weird.
Yep, that's what I was going to suggest. Looks to me to be a corrupt font issue. Try changing your desktop font and seeing if it goes away. If it does...aha! Clear font cache and reset to previous font.
