This is NOT my...week? moth? year?
Jan. 13th, 2004 05:36 pmWell, my knee's getting better...that's good...although I'll still probably not dance tonight, as that's just begging for more trouble.
However...remember that 'new' Pismo (Powerbook FW) that I have? Seems like the inverter board's toasted itself...the power-on LED doesn't and the display is dark (dead, as near as I can tell).
I've reseated all the cables I can. I've reset the powermanager and the PRAM and I've tried to force a screen reset ('R' during boot, according to http://www.jacsoft.co.nz/Tech_Notes/Mac_Keys.htm )
Hell, I've tried hooking up 2 different external monitors and still no joy, which might speak to different problems, but I never tried using the external monitor port before and don't know if the monitors would work with this machine in any circumstance.
How do I know the machine's not dead? It chimes on power-on. I can hear the boot cycle by listening to the harddrive. The DVD/CD ejects. After boot, F12 ejects it. During boot, numlock works normally - after boot, the Function Key switcher I installed does the right thing and FN-NumLock does the right thing while just hitting F5 bongs at me. The volume is adjustable.
I DON'T NEED THIS SHIT! REALLY!
