So, let's see...we couldn't cancel the hotel we booked through priceline, so I'm spending tonight and tomorrow at a Holiday Inn in Bloomington. Happily, they not only have net in-room, it's FREE Wireless. This is very cool.

When I woke up this morning, the worst of my foot pain had passed, leaving a messed up ankle from walking on it funny over the past 2 days...I bought an ankle brace and, by the time it was time to leave or bail, I was feeling like I could dance, so...

I danced to my 7th Square Dance Caller tonight (http://www.lse.org/~jailbait/callers.html ) - Dan Salstrom at the Minneapolis Wild Roses.

It's interesting dancing with an explicitly gay group, and with a mixed mainstream/plus group.

Things I learned tonight about my dancing:
- My recovery skills when dancing arky (the female/follower role) are much much weaker than when I'm dancing normal - even when doing mainstream. Those same skills still need work even when dancing normal.

- It's very very hard to change your hardwired flourishes to deal with another group's habits...

- The singing of 'Announcements, announcements, annou-ounce-ments!' is not just a Tech aberration.

- When dancing with a gay club, learn what they mean by 'boy' - current beau position or person who started out as 'boy'/leader - before the tip gets started - most of the time, it's obvious, but there are times when it can be unclear.

- While storing my badge in my courier bag - badge inside, magnet out - works most of the time, don't do it when flying...you'll lose the magnet. :/

When I arrived, there were six couples dancing a rectangle...I was amused.

They'd recently graduated a mainstream class (which ran Sept-Jan...) and so, along with me and the 2 other guests, they had 2 squares of MS, and 1 of plus. They're trying to figure out how to recruit more. I have no idea what the answer to that is, other than go and become part of a local university. All in all, very nice people...including one person who might come out to Tech around the time of Pinewoods English Week...but it becomes VERY obvious about the level that Tech dances...

I spent the earlier part of the day - after breakfast at Hell's Kitchen (YAY!) - I went to the Science Museum Of Minnesota...it's quite nice. It has a buch of good exploritorium-type stuff, great space, cool art/science installations, and currently, a very nice "Items From Our Collection" exhibit. The Omni theater's also extremely cool - but I'll get into the details of why later.

Tomorrow? Who knows...maybe Al's Breakfast (per suggestion from Ambar...) then, who knows...
